VIENNA : On October 26 2025, Austria celebrates its Nationalfeiertag, or Austria’s National Day. The official celebrations on October 26th began around 9:00 a.m. on Vienna’s Heldenplatz with the traditional wreath-laying ceremony by Van der Bellen and the federal government at the Outer Castle Gate. The Chancellor of Austria, Federal Ministers, Mayors are also present on this occasion.
Just before 11:00 a.m., two Eurofighters coming from the air base in Zeltweg, Styria, and a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft flew over Heldenplatz. However, fog “due to the low cloud base”, as it was said, clouded the view for the viewers. The fighter jets could only be heard clearly. Around 11:00 a.m., after the report to the Federal President as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the prelude to the highlight of the celebrations took place in front of an honorary guard company.
