Vienna – Pakistan Calls for Global Action Against Islamophobia at UN Crime Commission:-
Austria(Daily Roshni International News…Report… Muhammad Amir Siddique Journalist Vienna Austria)His Excellency Ambassador Kamran Akhtar Malik, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna, delivered Pakistan’s national statement at the 34th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), currently taking place in Vienna.
Ambassador outlined Pakistan’s comprehensive approach to tackling crime, including its active engagement with the UNTOC Review Mechanism and the Voluntary Pilot Initiative on Civil Society Engagement.
During the general debate, Ambassador strongly condemned the rising global trend of Islamophobia, xenophobia, and hate-driven violence, particularly against Muslim communities. He called on the international community to take urgent steps to counter such narratives, uphold human dignity, and ensure inclusive justice systems.
He also outlined Pakistan’s comprehensive efforts to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling, advocating for a holistic approach to migration that ensures dignity, safety, and regular pathways for all. Reiterating Pakistan’s strong support for the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), he called for a renewed global focus on asset recovery and return of illicitly acquired assets to their countries of origin.
Pakistan’s delegation to the session is comprised of Raja Naeem Akbar, Secretary Ministry of Law and Justice, Mr. Ehsan Sadiq, National Focal Person on UNTOC Review Mechanism and the Mr. Khalid Mahmood Chauhan, National Coordinator of NACTA, among others. On the sidelines of the session, Pakistan is also organizing two side events one highlighting judicial reforms in Pakistan, and the other focused on national actions to prevent violent extremism (PVE).
The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) is the principal policymaking body of the United Nations in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. It holds annual regular sessions to discuss contemporary issues related to transnational organized crime and to develop policy recommendations. The CCPCJ has 40 member States. Pakistan remains its member for the term 2025-2027.
