H.E. Ambassador Syed Haider Shah met Dr. Christophe Bernasconi, Secretary General of The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH), The Hague.

Holland ( daily Roshni News International … News Desk ) While appreciating HCCH’s important role in promoting private international law globally, Ambassador Shah discussed the growing role of HCCH’s conventions in emerging areas such as development of digital currencies, carbon credit markets and cross-border trade and e-commerce. He appreciated the role of the Secretary General in promoting HCCH’s technical and legal expertise and services through its conventions across the world.

While appreciating Pakistan’s ongoing peace efforts, the Secretary General expressed his hope that Pakistan would join the HCCH as full-member and make its active contributions in development of different conventions of private international law. In order to promote cooperation between the HCCH and Pakistan, he also expressed his keen interest to visit Pakistan in near future.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan is currently a signatory to three HCCH Conventions namely 1961 Apostille Convention; 1965 Convention on the service abroad of judicial and extrajudicial documents in civil or commercial matters and 1980 Convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction.
