Celebration of the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan
Holland(Daily Roshni News International —Special Corres pendent )The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the Netherlands celebrated the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.
A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House which was attended by more than 200 members of Pakistani community including, students, women and children from different parts of the Netherlands.
Ambassador Syed Haider Shah hoisted the national flag at the tune of national anthem. Messages from the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister on this auspicious occasion were read out to the audience.
The highlight of the event was participation of Pakistan National Hockey Team as Guests of honour, who are currently in The Netherlands for FIH Hockey World Cup. The Hockey team received a warm and heartfelt welcome from the community. In his remarks, captain of the Team Mr. Abu Bakar Mahmood extended gratitude to the embassy and the community, and said that the team was determined to perform with the best of their abilities during the Hockey World Cup. He invited the Pakistanis in The Netherlands to visit the Hockey stadiums to support Team Pakistan during their matches.
Ambassador Shah, in his remarks, welcomed the guests and congratulated the participants on the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan. He paid tribute to the founding fathers, martyrs and the security forces of Pakistan who sacrificed their lives to protect our motherland. The Ambassador prayed for Pakistan’s peace and prosperity and urged the community members to play their constructive role in the progress and development of Pakistan as well as the Netherlands. He also wished the Hockey team, a successful tournament.
The ceremony ended with prayers for the prosperity, safety and economic stability of Pakistan.
