70 kilos of marijuana: Five people in custody
Five suspected drug dealers have been arrested in Vienna and taken to correctional facilities. Police have now reported that 70 kilograms of marijuana and 6.8 kilograms of cocaine were seized during two operations in April and May.
At the end of April, officers in Vienna’s Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district observed a 27-year-old Montenegrin man and a 26-year-old Libyan man exchanging a bag. Shortly afterward, the 26-year-old met a 27-year-old Algerian man. Before the two could get into a taxi, they were stopped by the officers. The bag contained more than one kilogram of marijuana. Nearly one and a half kilograms of cocaine, cash, and pepper spray were also seized from the 26-year-old. Cash was also found on the 27-year-old Algerian man.
The 27-year-old Montenegrin was arrested during a further police operation at a house in Vienna’s Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district. Officers found 68.9 kilograms of marijuana and approximately 3,000 euros in cash in his apartment.
Another drug deal took place in May at the Kardinal-Nagl-Platz subway station in Vienna’s Landstraße district. A 49-year-old Serbian man handed a bag to a 28-year-old Serbian man, according to reports. Initially, 152 grams of cocaine and cash were seized, and both suspects were arrested.
In the suspects’ apartments, police also found approximately 6.7 kilograms of cocaine and small amounts of marijuana. During one of the apartment searches, officers noticed that the front door had been forced open. It is suspected that unknown individuals attempted to steal the drugs from the apartment. The investigation is ongoing.
